500 ml bottle at the Boot Room, Wheldale Hotel, Castleford. ABV is 4.6%. Pale golden colour, small white head. Aroma of malts and toffee. The flavour is more on the hoppy side, with earthy hops, on a dry grainy background

Medium coarseish offwhite head. Clear yellow body. Light strawy caramelly dusty aroma with papery perfumy notes. Dry-sweet dusty strawy taste with resiny spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish herbal resiny aftertaste with strawy papery notes. Traces of fruit, too. Nice, drinkable, a bit odd. Certainly tastes like a darker beer. (0.5l bottle, from House of Trembling Madness, York.)
