With more than 20 speciality malts, two separate mashes and three oak varieties, this is one of the most ambitious recipes we've ever attempted. Expect caramel, honey, nuttiness, chocolate, coffee and subtle smokiness all coming through with refined depth. Rich residual sugars balance with oak tannins to keep the beer drinkable, moreish and spectacularly flavoursome.

200ml draught at Henry & Sally's Bar (Mikkeller) in Oslo. Pitch black in the glass, spotty lacing, shiny naked surface. Lovely smell of mildly roasted chocolate malts and nuts, hints of dried fruits beneath. Well blended flavours of nutty chocolate, dark bread, and raisin. Oily palate. Silky smooth, long tail, nicely roasted chocolate malts. Full bodied. Enjoying sipper on my last afternoon in Oslo this time. (Oslo 05.07.2021).

Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Cloudy black, stable, foamy, beige head. Intense aroma of brown sugar, molasses, dark honey, candied plum, date, milk chocolate (sauce), toffee, custard, creamy mocha, toast, brandy. Taste has very sweet date & plum wrapped in a thick body of chocolate & sugary molasses, hinting at toffee & nuts, some bitter cocoa nibs & toast for balance with smoky-woody edges. Earthy hoppy finish, burnt toast & slightly spicy profile, lingering dark fruit & molasses as well as warming whisky alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Delicious from start to finish, complex and very enjoyable.
