Bottle at home. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, smoked ham, sweet dried fruits, raisins. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate bittersweet finish. Body is medium. I was wary of the honey, but the effect turned out to be subtle. Overall this is a nicely refined Smoked Doppelbock with a welcome bitterness to balance out the sweetness.

Draft at Bockbierfestival Utrecht 2024. Color: Clear ruby, beige head. Aroma: Caramel malt, subtle smoke. Taste: Dark malt, hints of roasted malt, some green hop, hints of liquorice and smoke. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Moderate sweet and light to moderate bitterness.

Fles 33cl thuis. IBU35. Lichte rooksmaak, heidehoning, wat caramel, rood fruittonen, wat droog, vijg, zoeten, licht syrupy. (26-3-2023).

Dark brown colour, beige foam. Nose of dark fruit, caramel, honey and a hint of smoke. Taste is medium sweet but also dry with a smoky hint. Not bad.

Bottle. brown color. Caramel and hints of roast and smoke in the aroma and flavor. Fruit jam. Malty sweet. Not bad.

Clear brown colour with thin, soapy head. Aroma is mostly smoked malts. There’s just a hint of honey sweetness. Flavour is similar. Decent body.

Clear amber brown colour, two finger frothy beige head, good retention and lacing. Aroma malty, roasty, caramel, dried dark fruit, smoky. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, toffee, subtle retronasal smokiness, with average duration. Bittersweet aftertaste, spicy notes, medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation. No honey but smoke, how about that (!), nice atypical Doppelbock.
