The Christmas version in this series of pseudo-Wallonian Huyghe ales, thanks tderoeck for sharing. Gusher, but manageable. Towering high, foamy, dense, off-white head over a hazy coppery bronze beer, lighter than brown - in other words, lighter than most traditional Belgian X-Mas ales. Aroma of hard butterscotch candy, lots of foam-enhancing iron, soap, dried peaches, liquorish, brown candi sugar, 'jenever', red apple, toasty bread crust, honey. Sweet and even cloying onset, fig jam and raisins but in a superficial way, sourish undertone, sharp and numbing overcarbonation; nutty and caramelly malt middle, lots of sticky brown sugariness and metallic at its edges, leading to a still very sweet finish with spicy, almost liquorish- and clove-like notes as well as whisky-like alcohol which could have been better hidden at only 7% ABV. Sweet, simple and metallic, like most of Huyghe's ales, but admittedly not the worst they produced so far; I did prefer the Bobeline Black Label over this, though.

GUSHER ALERT!
Clear amber to red brown beer, big aery irregular off-white head, unstable, falls down quickly. Aroma: pretty fruity, raisins, red berries, alcohol, oxidized. MF: very lively carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish, oxidized, yeast, unpleasant bitterness. Aftertaste: yeasty, sourish, oxidized, metallic finish (what a surprise).

Bottle. No idea where it came from. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is yeast, toffee caramel. The flavour is strong sweet with a resin, sweet sugar, metallic hop palate. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. A really sugar bomb and some more. Drain pour I’m afraid.

33cl bottle. Thick white head, it gushed aq little. Clear light amber pour. Herbal aftertaste. Quite drinkable not too sweet like a lot of Belgian Xmas beers.

Some spiciness in this ale, dark brown with foamy beige head. Light aroma of malt, cloves, coriander, cinnamon. More tangy spiciness in the taste, cola, malt and hops. Much more mellow than a lot of the seasonal Christmas ales.
