Dette var en god pastry stout. Helt svart med beige skum. Lukter kaffe, brunt sukker, sjokolade og kanel. Herlig fyldig og myk i munnfølelse. Smaker vanilje, kanel og sjokolade. Mye god sødme.

440ml can from HOTM online, York. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Rich, sweet, chocolate, coffee, vanilla aroma and taste. Thick, smooth and creamy, barely noticed the 13.5%. Very nice imperial stout but something deep inside me tells me that this is not really a beer, more like a dessert.

Black beer with a thick, fizzy brown head that soon fizzles out into a filmy ring. Smells of toasty malt and a bit boozy, maybe a little aniseed. Flavour has toasty malt, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, a hint of spice, brown sugar, finishes with some boozy warmth. Rich, smooth, viscous, a good lingering flavour. This is very, very good.

17th April 2021 Can. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head but it doesn't persist for long. Smooth and slightly soft palate, mildly viscous, soft fine carbonation, very well suited for this beer. Soft and rich dark malts but reasonably light. Soft rich chocolate cream. A little fruity dark chocolate. More luxuriant chocolate cream. Wow! The coffee is obvious and rich but sits well with everything else. Rich and freshly brewed but eschewing the espresso earthyness and bitterness. Smooth soft finish finds a ripe fruity creamy chocolate ganache and a beautifully rich chocolate fudge soulmate. Lovely touches of choux sweetness. As it warms, some red berries and a touch of Port Wine. Stunning is a word oft overused these days. Not as bad as 'like' but it's on the ladder of words used and abused into meaninglessness. The point of this diatribe is to emphasise that I think this pasty stout is stunning. Stunning as in very good indeed and rarely matched in quality, not something you say every day about anything and everything! 13.5%? Could have and did fool me, thought it might be in the 10 to11% territory. Really did not notice the hefty abv. Bloody marvellous!
