Our first SMaSH IPA release for 2020 is a beauty! Up until now we’ve mainly focussed on Aussie and Kiwi hops, and have dabbled in US hops a few times. This time we’ve combined an English-style hop with traditional British floor malted Marris Otter to produce a somewhat bloody good British IPA!
The Golding hop we used stems from the traditional East Kent Golding, and gives off English-style aromas of lavender and honey. Flavours are earthy and mildly bitter with a touch of sweetness, again reminiscent of honey. The Marris Otter malt in this beer has been floor malted, a tradition which spans hundreds of years. It provides a lovely body that we think is slightly bready and biscuity. Here’s cheers to the British tradition of beer!

Bottle. Mail order from the brewery. Bright, lemony nose, caramel malt, biscuits, honey. Deep ember-orange with a tall, fine head. Interesting hop flavor, English for sure, like an old school bitter in some ways, though I would guess American ale yeast. rich, fluffy malt. Sweet, fruity, caramel. An interesting choice. Like it.
