New tripel-ish Belgian blonde with spelt, conceived by two descendants of pre-World War II brewer families (Decock and De Swaen) and honouring the late great-grandfather of one of them; they allegedly brew this beer themselves in De Meester's kettles and have plans to continue the series with beers named after other brewing ancestors of these two guys. Steinie bottle at Café Congé in Ghent - very unexpectedly, I hasten to add. Frothy, snow white, regularly edged, dense head over a misty straw blonde beer with peachy hue. Aroma of banana peel, soggy white bread, freshly cut grass, quite outspoken DMS (overcooked broccoli), minerals, raw potato, soap, sandwich crust, pear. Restrainedly fruity onset hinting at halfripe banana and unripe peach, sharply numbing carbonation, rounded white-bready malt body, sweetish with a sharper cereally edge (likely representing the spelt); soapy coriander aspect in the finish but not over the top, soft floral hop bitterishness, lingering cereally effects and a dash of warming, 'jenever'-ish alcohol conclude this beer's flavour profile. Another one where looking back at a bygone era and the detailed story attached to it majorly overshadow the beer as such; apart from that DMS accent, not much is wrong here, but there is not much to experience either. Unnecessary.
