The colour comes from dark roasted barley, balanced with just the right amount of sweet, rolled oatmeal.
We mill both right here in the brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness. The true taste of malt shines through, balanced by the sweetness of pure Scottish heather honey.
Hops: Challenger, Progress
Malts: Pale Ale, Roast, Crystal, Chocolate

Cask. Dark brown with red tints and a fine, tan head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee and chocolate. Creamy, dry, rich and smooth. Flavor of coffee, chocolate, big malt, with a dry, roasted finish and decent hops to boot. Medium body. Nice.

500ml bottle bought at Centra, Colosseum Park, Oslo. Decent, off-white head covering a deep, ruby-brown body. Slightly roasted, semi-sweet malts to the nose. Sweetness of honey and chocolate-caramel malts in flavour nicely offset by hints of bitter fruits. Soft mouth feeling. Well made and easy drinking porter (hotel room, 04.09.2009).

A clear dark porter with a thin light moka head. Aroma of caramel, light roasted coffee, and light grainy oatmeal. In mouth, a lightly sweet chocolate malt with some light torrefied grains, a bit of caramel, pleasant and light. BB August 2009. LCBO Russell and Roland private import.

Bottle. A clear, amber beer topped by a small, beige head. Weak nose, lightly roasted and with some fruityness. Roasted, quite dry flavor, medium body, and a roasted finish. A decent beer, but it gets too boring. It lacks some complexity on both aroma and flavor. Easy to drink and all that, but I want some goddam flavor. Besides that, I like it. 090720

Big beige lasting head. Hazy dark brown body with carbonation. Fruity floral earthy aroma with roasty medicinal notes. Dry roasty soy and medicine taste with chocolatey earthy notes. Mid-to-thin body. Dry roasty metallic aftertaste with earthy floral notes. Very nice. Drinkable, yet complex. (0.5l bottle, Centra, Oslo.)

Cask-conditioned at the Victoria, Clifton, Bristol 29/01/09. Near black in colour with reddish undertones and a slight tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, seaweed, dark fruits and molasses. Flavour was sweet, with a whiff of smoke, some caramel and a decent bitter finish. Very good.

50 cl bottle hand delivered by my friend from Aberdeen! Nose of caramel, with some smoky peat; clear cherry brown with a small beige head; flavor of light pepperiness, smoke, and caramel; pretty good 4.5%ABV Porter!
