Fan of La Calavera 👌🏻Love the bretty/lambic funkyness, wood, fruits, grapes, really liked this one on red wine barrels

37,5 cl. bottle shared with Dennis @ Dennis and Patries. Golden with a very thin white head. Citrussy and tart aroma, some grape notes as well. Sour taste with a bone dry finish. Really similar to a fine Lambiek without being allowed to be called one.

Best before 11/2024, Batch 19/303, 375ml bottle, purchased at Etre Gourmet
APPEARANCE: golden color, almost clear with just a few floating particles, no head what so ever, just a small ring of fairly big bubbles; with sediment more apricot, peach juice like appearance
AROMA: very wine forward on the nose, impressions of white wine than red wine, funk, dusty cellar, sweet grapes, notes of sweet bread, white/wheat bread, wine tartness, freshly squeezed lemon, bread dough, sweet apples, hints of floral honey, grape skin, mild lactic presence (plain yoghurt), spicy hints, subtle sulphur
TASTE: mild carbonation, medium light to medium body with quite a juicy, slick & syrupy mouthfeel; pleasant sweet & juicy onset of ripe grapes, lemon juice, solid tartness but not sour or puckering, notes of dry wood, hay, soft funk, light lactic presence in the middle, old bread crumbs & impressions of bread crust, very mild green & grassy note in the start of the aftertaste; medium dry finish with lingering wine barrels, grapes, sweet apples and soft tannins
OVERALL: very refreshing & rounded, feels like natural wine; not overly complex but neither straightforward, more funk on the nose than in the taste; very enjoyable, mouthwatering and crushable at the same time;

375ml bottle [#19/303]. Minimally cloudy, no head; some late awakening, fine bubble build up a white corona. Woody and citrusy fruity aroma, notes of lemon, old lemon, lemon peel, a touch of diluted red wine. Taste is tart-ish, woody, fruity, citrusy, notes of lemon, old lemon, lemon peel, some leather, grapefruit peel, diluted hints of red wine; woody and leathery finish. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, slightly cloying palate, soft carbonation. Very mild, harmonious, integrated.

Bottle. Color: Bit hazy golden, very thin white head. Aroma: Tart, grapes, a lot of wood. Taste: Over moderate tart, wood, grapes, grapeskin. Hints of citrus fruit and leather. Light sweetness and bitterness. Dry mouthfeel. Just under medium body, very low carbonation. Vinuous and very dry finish. Nicely balanced, not too sour. Another nice one from La Calavera.
