Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too.

Nice thick palate. Mocha, vanilla and even a light taste of anise. Pours pitch black with mocha head and lacing. Finishes bitter with a touch of sweetness. Rye adds a nice spice to the barley. Soft carbonation. Wonderful balance on this. Bottle from licbo.

(500mL bottle from LCBO) Pours brown-black, some mahogany highlights and a big, fairly dense dark tan head, slow to recede with a fair bit of lace. Aroma is good - hard-roasted slightly smoky malts, dark coffee, a little bittersweet chocolate and a slight peppery spice from the rye. On the palate it just explodes, ever so slightly sweet at first with coffee, chocolate, some slight dark fruit hints, roasted malt and already a bready spice from the rye. By mid-palate the rye has really kicked in, spicy and slightly sweet and complex, roast malts and associated flavours too, and a bit of hop bitterness. Finishes dry, spicy rye, fairly bitter for style, lingering roast and malt sweetness clinging to the back of the tongue. Fairly full, slightly creamy mouthfeel, fairly soft carbonation, no booze. A brawny yet refined and complex porter, quite a nice punch from the rye, delicious stuff.

9/12/10/11/10/12

Bottle @ home shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, full sized dense, lightly creamy, light brown head that lasts for a long time and leaves thick lacing. Aroma of malts, dark malts, roasted malts, lightly coffee, iron. Taste malts, roasted malts, slightly coffee, liquorice, iron, slightly overripe fruits and subtle bitterness. Very nice beer! Bottle at home. 1 year old. Pours a pretty black colour with a dark beige creamy medium head. Roasted malt in the aroma along with coffee, ash, nuts and rye bread. Powerful taste of heavy roasted malt, espresso, ash, some alcohol, soy sauce and more roast. Wow. Rich and slick mouth feel, and a medium to heavy bitterness. A heavy and roasted porter, and has a lot of rye.
