Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark mahogany body that supports tan head that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The modest aroma offers up malts, chocolate and then some dark roasted maltiness. The taste starts smooth for a brief moment and then dark roasted malts and burnt malts edged in dark roasted coffee surge to the surface. To midway it picks up mild malt sweetness mixed with chocolate malts that peak out above the dark roastiness. Behind all of the malts lurks a nice rye twang as well as bitter hops that are tough to distinguish. Very nice full flavor offering. Love this.
