For the 100th anniversary of the brewery in 1989, the steam beer was originally brewed according to the traditional recipes of the Wolfgang Pfeffer, the founder of the brewery. Since then it has been ripening in the old, deep rock cellars.

The fermentation with top-fermenting yeast ran quickly in wooden, open vats at temperatures of 18-20 ° C. This led to a violent, rapid carbonation, which caused large gas bubbles on the "ceiling" (foam above the liquid). These burst from time to time, giving the impression that "the beer is steaming". The name "steam beer" was born!

# 2599; 10/2021. Bready and slightly fruity aroma. Taste similar to Heffeweizen-beer, strong yeasty, banana, clovy, bready, fruity, dry finish. Interesting beer. 0,5 l, bottle, multitap pub, Pilsen (Bohemia, CZ).

Dark reddish, nearing brown. Smells pretty sweet, malty, German, lots of caramel. Mouthfeel is extremely light, without being overly watery. Light carbonation. Taste is malty, tiniest hint of roast, some slight caramelly sweetness. Dangerously quaffable.

500ml bottle, online from Beers of Europe. Pours clear chestnut brown with a decent tan cap. Aroma: sweet-ish malts, grains, caramel, nutty, yeast esters. Taste: moderate sweet & light to moderate bitter, bread, caramel, clove, banana, cinnamon. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Nice to finally find the beer that has it's own style on Untappd.

0.5 l bottle from local 'trinkgut', best before July 2021. Clear, mahogany with a medium large, dense, almost stable, off-white. Sweetish-malty, quite yeasty-spicy and a little fruity aroma of bubblegum, banana juice and traces of clove. Gently sweet, malty, quite yeasty-spicy and minimally fruity taste of banana juice, quite some bubblegum, a touch of clove and traces of grains, followed by a short, minimally bitter, quite yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Haven't had a Dampfbier for years and now two different ones within two weeks, liked the Veldensteiner version better than this one.
