The fermentation with top-fermenting yeast ran quickly in wooden, open vats at temperatures of 18-20 ° C. This led to a violent, rapid carbonation, which caused large gas bubbles on the "ceiling" (foam above the liquid). These burst from time to time, giving the impression that "the beer is steaming". The name "steam beer" was born!

Orange color, hazy. Rhubarb in the aroma. malty flavor with traces of rhubarb, grapes and dust. medium bodied. MF is a bit fat. Fruity aftertaste. Very drinkable and likeable.

Wisst ihr noch, als ihr euch zum ersten Mal dachtet Mensch, Bier schmeckt richtig gut!. Diese außergewöhnliche, obergärige Bierspezialität bringt die Erinnerungen an diesen glorreichen Moment zurück. Hier ist zumindest alles enthalten, was damals nötig war, um mich als jungen Mensch doch noch auf die dunkle Seite der Macht zu ziehen. Ein interessanter Geruch, geringe Hopfung (damit auch nicht sehr bitter), recht süß, der Geschmack von Malz, Getreide, Noten von Nelke, Banane, Zimt und Karamell. Sehr weich, extrem süffig. Lecker und gut. Allerdings bin ich nicht mehr 16 Jahre alt und habe inzwischen intensivere Biere schätzen gelernt. Ich würde mir hier mehr Substanz wünschen. Das ganze ist mir dann doch etwas zu süffig und zu mild (ich vermeide den Begriff wässrig), um wirklich zu 100 % zu überzeugen. Ich will mehr Dampf im Dampfbier. Ein Bock auf Basis dieses Biers - das wäre vermutlich der Hammer.

05-10-18 // 500ml bottle at Leon in Mainz. Almost clear amber brown. White head. Malty sweet body. Some darker malts. Mild hop aromas. Mild smooth bitterness.

Zwieseler “Dampfbier“, vom Faß auf dem Berliner Bierfestival. - Schönes Kupferrot, klar. - In der Nase milde Malzsüße, überreife Banane, fein hopfenwürziger Hopfen. - Antrunk satt karamelmalzig mit dezenter bonbonartiger Restsüße, fein ausbalanciert durch zarte fruchtige Säure und reife Banane. Etwas zu stark rezent, trotz schöner Süße eher schlank. Im Abgang allermildeste fruchtige Herbe. - Auf originelle Weise malzsüß, auf Dauer arg dünn aber rund und süffig. Schön!

Bottle on the return leg of 375 to Budapest, 10/06/18. Golden amber with a decenter beige cap. Nose is sweet malts, grains, dusty fruits, light banana notes. Taste comprises honey, caramel, bready tones, sweet malts, fruit esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable for the style.

Thnx to Aminatchime ! Pours clear, amber copper. Small white head. Smell is bit caramelly. Taste is sharp, very mild bitterness. Caramelly, tad sticky towards the aftertaste. Some residual sweetness. No real darker malts, or amber malty flavor. OK.

Pours dark amber from the bottle. Aroma is caramel with apple notes. Taste is an understated bittersweetness with some light watery notes on the palate. Body trends light, and the carbonation is mild. Finishes with the same pleasing caramel/apple mix that greets the nose. Despite the simplicity, a pleasant enough brew. Good.
