For the 100th anniversary of the brewery in 1989, the steam beer was originally brewed according to the traditional recipes of the Wolfgang Pfeffer, the founder of the brewery. Since then it has been ripening in the old, deep rock cellars.

The fermentation with top-fermenting yeast ran quickly in wooden, open vats at temperatures of 18-20 ° C. This led to a violent, rapid carbonation, which caused large gas bubbles on the "ceiling" (foam above the liquid). These burst from time to time, giving the impression that "the beer is steaming". The name "steam beer" was born!

(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly cloudy coppery golden with a subdued head and a low carbonation. Very malty, caramelish, soft and sweet with only a touch of hops for balance. My kinda beer - delicious. 060201

Bottle. Quite spicy aroma. Very earthy, spicy flavour, a little sweet. Spicyness reminding me of witbier. Hint of mushroom. Interesting beer, and quite nice.

An amber beer with a fine dense white head. The aroma is primarily hoppy and grassy while the flavor is primarily malty.

Gold-amber; totally-clear; broken white head, dissipating slowly. Cookies and fresh spring leaves in the nose, as well as some hops, honey, banana - over-ripe banana that is. Surprisingly fresh taste at the onset, whiff of hopbitterness, receding to a fuller malt sweetness. Some esters swirling around, notably banana. MF is as mineral springwater, refreshing, light texture. Aftertaste hints at laurel/bay leaf. Top-fermenting beers, outside the ubiquitous Weizen, Alt and Kölsch are rare as hens' teeth in Germany. This beer tells from an older tradition, even in Bayern. And it's even a rather nice, albeit quite sweet beer.

Complex aroma: Sweet cookie malt, fruit (Banana, peaches) and a hint of spices (nutmeg, vanilla) plus a trace of berries. Golden brown color, the occasional bubble, low creamy head. Sweet malt base, banana and nut notes on top. Bitterhop lurking in the background. Sweet exit, green spices follow you to the door.
