Rye has been a staple grain for millennia—sought after for its stubborn resilience in the field and revered for its unique flavor. Ruthless Rye IPA is brewed with rustic grains for refined flavors, combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to spring.

Pours a dark amber with a strong head. Smell is piney, citrusy and a little sweet. Taste has notable hops, primarily piney, but not over the top. Spicy notes from the rye and significant malt sweetness fill out the flavors. Overall a good, interesting IPA. Nice beer to throw into the mix to change things up a bit.

15/04/2012 330ml bottle (thanks dreadnord!). IPA molto buona.

Bottle from Corks of Bristol. Copper coloured with a slight white head. Aromas of oranges, sweet malts and spicy grains. Flavour had more marmalade fruit, a lot of spice and a dry finish. Very good.

12oz bottle pours clear amber with copper hues and thin light tan head. The modest aroma offers up musty earthy hops mixing with spicy hops, sweet malts and a touch of rye and slightly roasty malts. The taste has a pleasing spicy hop to spicy rye where the spiciness is more like cedar or oak spice without the wood sensation rather than kitchen spices. It is both moderately rich and flavor and yet sessionable in its lightness. Midway and into the finish it gets earthy with a mix of hops and lightly roasted maltiness. Darn good drinking and the price is awesome at $12 per 12 pack.

Pours copper with a large, lasting head.Nose shows tropical fruit, with overt passionfruit alongside peach and green apples. Faint spicy, bready notes underneath. Unfortunately the fruit fades pretty quickly to be replaced by pine and grassy hops.Very hoppy flavours, but nowhere near as much tropical fruit, more focussed on pine and grapefruit. Underneath is more spicy, bready notes, followed by an aggressive, sharp bitterness.Could use a bit more carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a hazy brown with a creamy off white head. Aroma is malty, rye/spices, and some hop. Taste is up front mix of rye and hops but soft malts that give it a balanced finish. Very drinkable IPA.

Pours a dark, copper-brown with minimal head. Floral/hop aromas are rather muted. Flavor is a pleasing combination of the hop bitterness and rye-grain flavor. A more toned-down IPA that’s smooth and not quite as bitter as some. I liked it.

[Thanks to MatSciGuy]. 12fl. bottle. Orangish colour with a perfect formation of an off-white head. Nice lacing on the glass and moderate lasting. Aroma is fruity, floral and hoppy. Flavour is from the beginning to the end bittery, dominating floral hops, resins are also present in the aftertaste. Slightly dense on palate. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium. Texture is mld oily.

Bottle: Light amber pour with a finger of creamy beige head. Sweet citrus aroma indicates lots of sticky wet citrus hops... some caramel, pine, resin. Tastes a lot like SNPA, but with the addition of rye. Some florals stand out and it gets a little dry. Not as hoppy as an IPA could or should be, but more hop profile than most rye beers I can recall. Good
