Rye has been a staple grain for millennia—sought after for its stubborn resilience in the field and revered for its unique flavor. Ruthless Rye IPA is brewed with rustic grains for refined flavors, combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to spring.

Bottle. Clear, amber body with a creamy off-white head. Aroma more malty than hoppy with notes of caramel, toasted grain, sharp rye with hints of earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. The tastes are more hoppy than malty though they are subdued — leafy hops, grass, citrus with a strong finish of rye and lingering bitterness. And a bit of the signature Sierra Nevada Vitamin B flavor. Balanced. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Crisp, easy drinking.

Clear dark amber. High, loose head. Persistent lace. Nice, fresh aroma. Rye is evident, but does not give grainy taste. Smooth, full aftertaste. I could drink several of these. Rye is nice change of pace.

12 oz. bottle, pours a mostly clear orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma of strong rye malts, pine, loads of pot and herbal hops. Flavour is heavy on the rye, pot, herbal, hops and more rye malt. Very rye and pot dominated. Good for what it is, though not really my favourite flavours.

Bottle. Pours with a clear copper hued body and a large, lasting, just off-white head. Pretty decent retention with good lacing. Aromas are of spicy and citrusy. Lightly bready malt sweetness as well in the forefront. Floral and flowery with light esters. Medium grassy. Flavors are bready, grainy, lightly spicy from the malt. Notable rye rustic character. Crisp finish. Hops are there, but nothing crazy. Medium bitterness that seems like it might be accentuated by the rye. Hop flavors are grassy, herbal and citrus. Brief duration that ends bitter but not oppressively so. Fuller carbonation, dry, medium bodied. Crisp. Pretty decent six pack purchase.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark copper with a medium, beige head. The aroma is caramel, rye, and spruce hops. The flavor is very bitter and a little malty sweetness. The palate is medium, sticky, and astringent. Overall, this is a good rye beer, with plenty of flavor and a clean mouthfeel.

OOOHHHH Spicy!!! this is a good west coast IPA with the added flavor explosion of the rye spice character that knocked my socks off. Definitely not a session type ale, this one was good for one or two at the most before my palate was not capable anymore.

Nose featured some clean earthy bready rye grains complemented by a light hopping, both citric and resiny. Flavor was resiny hopped, very dry as the rye must have fermented out quite a bit. Finish was a long lingering combination of rye bread type earthiness and a bitter hopping. I think this is nice...but not sure. Its so dry, but its growing on me. Deep copper color, medium head and nice lacing.

Bottle @ home. I guess Rye IPAs are the newest trend in the craft beer world, which is fine with me. Clear, caramel orange appearance with a creamy, tan head. Fairly spicy rye malty, bready, lightly citrusy, somewhat herbal hoppy aroma. Really a nice, rich, spicy rye flavor with some moderate piney hops, a mild citrusy element, and a tasty, toasty breadiness. Somewhat spicy rye aftertaste. Great beer!

Bottle at Sander’s place, NYC. Pours clear, copper-ruby with a luscious, light tan foam. Truly gorgeous aroma, loads of fresh, wet hops, pine, grapefruit, pineapple, melon. Medium sweet flavor, toasty grain, some spicy rye, tons of meaty hops, pine, toasty sugar. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sticky, moderately sweet finish, tons of resinous pine, citrus, spicy hops and rye. Delicious toasted malts, subtle caramel, fine bread. Lasting pine bitterness and modest sugar. Really an incredible beer. Wonderfully drinkable.
