Teenage kicks.

Our latest liquid milestone, brewed to celebrate our 13th anniversary.

The complex malt bill of this 15.3% bourbon barrel aged imperial stout unloads an eclectic mix of vanilla, toffee, coffee, dried dark fruits, molasses, with the addition of chillies provides an undercurrent of subtle heat.

Pretty much an opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head that lasts for a minute or more. Smooth palate, soft and slightly viscous - silky, decent superfine carbonation on the back end. Soft smooth rich dark malts. Nice soft dark malt cream, a little chocolate that is around 65/35 dark to milk ratio. Soft but rich espresso coffee underneath. Nice rounded rich bourbon soaked ripe fruits. A mild smoke and a mild itch from the chillis, really just another dimension rather than the main event, thank the Lord! Don't notice the 15% abv really. Yet another reminder of what we have lost. When Brewdog were great, they were up there in the world premier division but, they ended up getting kicked out of Scottish 22nd division for financial irregularities. Ye gods!

Bottle. Black body with a tan head. No visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of cigar, vanilla and subtle whisky. Flavour of earth, dark chocolate, dark sugar and cigar. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This beer is like a liquid cigar - it’s complex and delicious.

Bottle from Brewdog Seven Dials. Nose is caramel cake,,toffee, sweet tobacco, bourbon. Taste is the same, long lingering bitter notes. Heavy alcohol burn, barely noticeable initially but certainly makes its presence known in the tail end. Would prefer less bitterness, could be so much better.

Appearance is oily black, with a small beige head which quickly fades. Aroma- chocolate, coffee, tiramisu, rum, whisky, oaky woody notes, treacle, dark roast malt, caramel, more chocolate. Taste is smooth chocolate, coffee, roast malt, toasted coconut, whisky, vanilla, bit of rum, more chocolate, quite sweet with caramel, hint of chilli and peppery spice at the end.

Bottle. Black with just a vague hint of a beige head. Aroma of Bourbon, roasted malts and chocolate. Taste of roasted malts, brown sugar, caramel, cocoa, Bourbon, chocolate and some liquorice with a tiny dash of chili. Low bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Very balanced. Boozy for sure but I’m impressed that this doesn’t feel like 15 % at all. Delightful.
