Half at The Dog Inn. Bright golden pour with a sturdy creamy white head, solid lacing. Grainy, bready aroma. Taste is grainy and soft, a slight dry bitterness at the finish. Body is exquisite, creamy, velvety, dense, smooth.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. The nose has a soft lemony aroma along with some caramel. In the mouth it is juicy and sweet, though slightly watery. There’s lemon and citrus at the start, with hops coming through later, turning things bitter. Finish is mainly citrus though. Not bad, but not very exciting either – a standard golden ale really.

Cask-conditioned at the Cornubia, Bristol 18/1/2019. Amber, with a slight, 0ff-white, head. A strong bitter, with caramel, a hint of red and tangerine fruits, hint of spice, and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at JDW, Paradise Circus, Birmingham. Poured a very slightly hazy medium amber with a broken white head, lots of lace and no carbonation. The aroma is a little malty, but weak. The flavour is medium bitter, malty, with a hint of toffee and a little fruit on the palate and in the aftertaste. This is what a real ale should taste like and I could honestly drink this all night long!

Cask, gravity at The Fox Inn, Wilbaston, Northamptonshire on the Welland Valley Beer Festival tour Sat 11th June 2011 Pours warm gold with a white rim of bubbles, good clarity. Nice fruity beer with good fruitiness also present on the nose touch sweet maybe but mid bitterness helps to balance this out. A7 A5 T7 P3 Ov13 3.5

500ml bottle. Pours a pale yellow with a large head and lots of carbonation. Aroma is very faint, grassy hops, hint of lemon. Grassy hops make up the taste, too. Medium bitter finish.
