The drinkers’ favourite, a 4.1% classic pale ale with a complex citrus and hoppy aroma. A recent survey revealed that Landlord has the highest proportion of drinkers who call it their favourite ale. And it has won more awards than any other beer, winning both CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain and the Brewing Industry Challenge Cup four times.

16.9 ounce bottle. Golden bronze color. Small off-white head. Nice biscuity malt aroma, hints of hay and grain. Toasted malt flavor with citrus hop overtones. Complex malt with a buttery, light yeasty character. Nicely balanced and flavorful. This is classic beer-making at it’s best. Simple and straight-forward. Leave it to the Brits to make a classic Pale Ale.

50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 20.11.2010
Aroma is somewhat hoppy with toffee and hints of hay. Flavour is hoppy with floral notes, some toffee and hay. A bit straightforward and narrow, but I like the hops here.

Nice bitter, one of Michael Jackson’s 500 classic. Malty side of bitters, buttery and grainy with a little floral hoppiness. Nice session beer.

From bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival: at only 4,1% this is a superb beer, fruity, complex, very well balanced and with great drinkability. Exactly as I remember from cosy English pubs.

Aroma: The nose is clean and malty, some grass, toast, and light citrus
Appearance: Pours a clear golden-orange color with a small head and light lacing
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweet and pretty malty, with light citrus and earthy flavors
Palate: The body is fairly light, with a clean feel, average carbonation, and a slightly dry finish
Overall Impression: This one made the trek all the way back from London (though it probably could have been purchased here pretty easily). Thanks, Mike! I thought this was a solid, but not overwhelmingly exciting British style ale. I don't have too much to add beyond that.

Bottled 500ml (Beer Hunters, BB 06/2012)
Clear amber color, small steady off-white head. British hoppy with crystal malty sweetness, a bit dusty aroma. Light to medium bodied. English hops, some caramel, "ryeish" hoppyness. Short bitter finish. Very British, nice beer for this ABV.
