50 cl bottle. Batch 404 Brygget 080109 BB 080111 - enjoyed 091211. Color is dark brown, head (foam comes out of the bottle, not really gushing but still) is beige, creamy, firm, sticky (good lace). Aroma’s: Heavy roast, ash, dark coffee, malty sweet, a bit red fruit/berries. Flavor is roasted-bitterish, like coffee. Light body. Finishes dry, with roast and rather bitter. Excellent still after three years.

50 cl bottle @ home. #576: bottled 11.01.2011, BBE 11.01.2013
Rather malty aroma has nuts, toffee, dark chocolate. Flavour is also malty with chocolate, nuts, some coffee and semi-dark chocolate. Surprisingly thick and creamy palate for a 4,5% ABV beer. Feels like light doppelbock without the sweetness of malt which is balanced with the hops here. Adding the yeast sediment is not recommended, it makes this more bitter.

Very hazy, opaque brown colour, thick beige head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Some chocolate. Slight apple, light hops. Flavour is malty caramel, light fruit, slight hops bitterness. Quite thin body, but that’s relative: It has a much, much better texture than the one other brown ale I’ve drunk till this date.

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Dark brown color with a dark red glow visibly coming through, huge, thick, vast off-white head. Smells incredibly fruity, almost sweet, and like blossom. Tastes totally different: a bit roasty, malts, caramel and a lot of nuts in my opinion. A bit thin bodied, but a nice taste; like a brown ale should taste I think. Low to medium carbonation, low body.

500ml bottle from K-Supermarket Kamppi
Batch #576, brygget 110111 Pours dark brown with a tiny white head. Light aroma of malts and caramel. Taste is pretty watery, carbonated and light bodied with notes of malts and hints of caramel and coffee. Quite lengthy finish of chocolate notes. Slightly disappointing, perhaps a bit too old.

50cl bottle. Pours a chestnut brown with a thin white head which mostly disappears. The nose has a distinct coffee grinds, in fact it’s very powerful. The taste has chocolate and coffee. The palate has a medium to full body with a creamy texture and a burnt but fairly clean finish. Overall, I like it.

Brown with a light brown head - has a nice malty aroma with hints of raosted malt and some bitterness - nice malty body with again some roasted malt and bitterness that lingers into the finish - this was very good
