Draught at DCB, 2/4/17.
Lightly hazy, bright golden-brass body topped by a medium-sized white head showing moderate retention.
Some fruitiness and juiciness in the nose clashes with stronger pine and grapefruit rind while white bread and light caramel add a malt backbone behind it. Clean, at least and the fruitiness at least mitigates the heavier resin notes.
In the mouth it starts out bright and lively, with lime, mango and pineapple. White bread, biscuit and honey quickly give way to heavier, much more bitter pine and grapefruit, which linger on the finish. I like that it’s amply malty to balance the hops and is reasonably clean. Carbonation is a bit underwhelming and comes off both too light and too loose. Alcohol was well-concealed.
