Sampler at the Livery. Body is a dingy light brown with a decent head and aromas of citrus, herbal and resiny hops with a little toffee. Flavor is light and refreshing, especially for a brown ale and the hops are heavier than normal for the style, making this almost an IPA.

On tap at Sugar Maple. Pours a clear deep amber with a caramel hue and a creamy white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces thickly. Aroma has a good amount of citrus hops with backing grapefruit, bread and caramel. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy as well with grapefruit and citrus that mellow into a grain and caramel finish. Odd for a brown ale, but I don’t mind!

Sampled at the 2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Festival, Lansing. Orange-brown body, medium buff head. A different take on a brown ale, with firm hoppiness (piney and bitter) tending to dominate the caramely, toasty malts in both the aroma and palate. Creamy and somewhat thin palate.
