Arcadia introduces the newest addition to its stable of world class British-style ales. Brewed with the legendary Maris Otter Malt from Scotland, this beer is full-bodied and brings a taste of sweet caramel together with a hint of toasted malt that’s well balenced with a solid presence of premium American aromatic flower leaf hops. From the package: "Then let us toast John Barleycorn, Each man a glass in hand; And may his great posterity ne’er fail in old Scotland!"

Sampler glass.Rating #994! I said in my previous rating of their Angler’s Ale that it might be great on cask… then the next beer was on cask! Gives it a nice creamy, smooth head. Very low carbonation, almost still. Color is on the dark side of the amber scale. Nice mouthfeel, texture of a nitro oatmeal stout. Slippery smooth.

draft sampler at the brewpub - Pours light amber with a nice head that hangs around awhile. A light malty aroma leads into a flavor to match. Crisp and smooth, but a little too thin, this easy to drink session brew could use something more.

Funny stuff, it screams homebrew from beginning to end. The label was on crooked and the neck badge was falling off (and crooked too). Pours a cloudy amber color, with a big head. Aroma is slightly off, with dough, pineapple, yeast and vinegar. Flavor is slightly tart and oddly fruity, somewhat herbal. Somewhat "green" tasting, and like I said, its like beginner homebrew.

A very good amber ale. Full bodied with abundant malt flavor. Some fruity sour flavor as well. Initially a large white head that never completely fades.

Hazy copper body, thin off-white (or buff) head. Earthy, toasty, caramely aroma with a touch of soapiness that characterizes many of Arcadia’s beers. Flavorwise, this beer is stuffed full of earthy, woody, herbal hops which have the upper hand over the toasty, caramely malts. Quite resiny and sweet, with hints of the soapy character hinted at in the aroma (and also detected by the previous reviewer). Medium-bodied, with a long, pleasant hoppy aftertaste. Rather medicinal. Follows in the footsteps of its elder brother, the Batch 999, and I recommend fans of the former seek this offering.
