Brooklyn Monster Ale is a classic barley wine, a style of ale originally brewed by the butlers to the English and American aristocracy. It is brewed from three mashes of heirloom British malt and spiced with aromatic American Willamette, Cascade and Fuggle hops.
After four months of aging, it has a magnificent burnished copper color, an aroma redolent of sherry, citrusy hops and fruit, a soft, warming, complex palate, a spiritous finish, and a strength of 10.8%.
It is vivacious when young, but will age gracefully for many years, becoming more complex over time.

Bottle bought in Copenhagen drank at home, shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy red to dark amber color, small white to off - white head that diminishes pretty quickly. Smell malts, sweetness, leaves and some alcohol. Taste malts, some sweetness, lightly alcohol, some hops. Medium to full body, medium to full carbonation. Very nice beer!

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a hazey honey colour with a decent thin head. The nose has honey and a depth of caramel and nuts. The taste has more honey and a lemon zing. The palate is medium to full bodied with a big rich texture and a fairly well balanced finish. Overall, good beer.

Bottle - 2011 Vintage - Sweet caramel, molasses and dark fruits. Clear mahogany with a persistent off white head. Brown sugar, initial sweetness that gets to a bit of bitterness and finishes with alcohol and heat. Flavor of ripened red fruits and brown sugar again. Finish is a bit cloying. A big beer, that is better shared.

Bottle pour to snifter. Nice, clean appearance. Very drinkable, but a "middle of the road" barley wine.
