Brewed with the finest Maris Otter and optic malts, sourced locally to the brewery, with the addition of three hop varieties including First Gold.
Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness.
Brewed with the finest East Anglian Pale Ale malt barley, sourced locally to the brewery. We use Fuggles hops which we add late in the boil to preserve the herbal flavours of this traditional English hop.
First brewed in 1967, it was originally called Adnams Best Bitter. It holds our oldest trademark, Southwold Jack, and remains the original hero in our range.
Southwold Bitter is as distinctive as ‘Southwold Jack’ (the knight with the sword) who appears on the pump clip and has done so through many incarnations. Many Adnams beer fans would agree with our Head Brewer that Adnams Bitter is a truly distinctive pint. We wouldn’t be overselling it to describe it as a classic.

Medium beige head. Deep amber body with carbonation. Caramelly earthy buttery aroma with nutty notes. Dryish caramelly nutty taste with spicy buttery notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish spicy nutty malty aftertaste with soy sauce notes. Nice, if a bit simple. (0.5l can, Systembolaget Charlottenberg.)

Pours deep clear amber into a n English pint. White head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing to skim surface. Sweet caramel aromas. Soft with sweet toffee and caramel upfront turning to mild bitter nuts in the medium length finish.

Aroma: The nose is crisp and fruity, with some malty notes, biscuit, and British hops
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark reddish color with a small off-white head and light, spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is a bit fruity and malty, medium sweet, with some light, crisp hops later on
Palate: The body is fairly light, not watery, with a crisp, clean feel, and some fairly lively carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a very solid one. It works in the style plenty well. Overall, it leans malty, but that's the style, and they did a very solid job with the style here.

Dobry i gożki bitter. Bursztynowy kolor, mocna piana chć średniej wielkości, trochę pęcherzykowata. Aromat słaby choś świeże trawy wyczuwalne. Finisz jeszcze bardziej gożki niż pierwsze łyki degustacji. Klasyczny bitter
