AMBURANA & CHOCOLATE STOUT van Kees is weer een meesterstuk. Imperial stout gemaakt met chocolade en amburana, dat is een kruidig hout uit Brazilië. Het bier is niet gerijpt op houten vaten maar het hout heeft gerijpt in het bier. Alles wat je proeft naast de chocolade komt af van de kruidigheid van het hout. Super gaaf natuurlijk... zou zeggen proeven maar! |

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Black, small beige head. Aroma of chocolate liqueur, licorice and bark. Sweet with full body and clena mouthfeel. Lots of milk chocolate and chocolate liqueur. Syrup, licorice and bark. Warming mid bitter finish.

[ As Kees Amburana & Chocolate Stout ].
ABV: 11.0%. Clear dark red brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, toasted - roasted, chocolate, vanilla, nutty, assume: amburana ! Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, chocolate, vanilla, dark malt, sweet malt, nutty, malt bitter, assume amburana. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20240423]

Can (from Alko web). Pitch black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate, some liquorice, mild nutty tones with some alcohol. Flavour is chocolate, liquorice, mild nutty tones, alcohol as well as some slight wooden elements too.

Brownish black, minimal light brown head. Smells roasty, dark chocolate. Nice thickness, but drinks quite heavily. Tastes bitter, super dark chocolate. Get some of the wood, but not as rich as some other examples. Not bad, mostly very chocolaty.

33cl Blik van Hopt.nl. Zwart, beige kraag. Aroma is zoet, kruidig, beetje als cederhout, kaneel-achtig, melkchocolade, vanille. Smaak is behoorlijk zoet, iets metalig daardoor, maar toch ook behoorlijk bitter, gebrand, donkere chocolade en koffie, caramel, toffee, kaneel, cederhout, bitter-zoete finish. Volle body. Lekker.

Black beer, initially a big thick head which soon settles but there's still a distinct, light brown collar on it. Smell is rich malty chocolate with maybe a little fruit. Flavour has a nice spiced hit from the amburana up front and it lingers through into the backtaste, with toasty malt, chocolate, dried fruit, a little anise. Nicely balanced, hefty flavour and rich in body. One to savour and it's very nice indeed.
