For the Vintage Ale 2020, we've stayed true to our roots - sourcing all our ingredients here in the UK. The story starts with DRC®, a Double Roasted Crystal malt from East Anglia that promises malty sweetness rich in caramel and raisin. Then there's the Herefordshire hops - Jester® and Godiva- adding ripe berry fruit and tangy citrus notes to the signature marmalade flavours of our famous Fuller's yeast.

Mild smell of malt. Ruby cognac colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, cognac, some plums, sugar. Sweet. Soft palate. Medium carbon. Good one.

Bottle. Nose is fruity, hint of toffee, hint of pastry, soft orange and citrus. Taste is malty, marmalade, berry, caramel, spice, light pine, brown sugar, slightly molasses & marmalade note in the finish. Very very smooth creamy mouthfeel. Very enjoyable... now to put one in the cellar....

28th November 2020 Clear orange tinted amber beer, good pale tan head. Quite an airy light palate that completely belies its 8.5%. Smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness. A delightful and well integrated smooth caramel streak. Soft and well rounded ripe fruits, touch of fresher citrus peel. Very light pine from somewhere and a touch of spice. Not had a fresh Vintage for a few years and this was a nice reminder of how good these can be fresh. See you in 3 years when this should have matured.3?8

And....back again after 3 years. Hazy deep amber beer, tidy bubbly cream colour head. Fluffy palate, decent fine carbonation. Smooth caramel and cream malts, a touch of toffee. Some almost Port Wine red and black berries are quite a suprise. After three years, the English hops still manage to bring and Orchard fruits vibe, ripe pear, apple and plum. Smooth finish finds all these flavours coming together along with a mild sourness that I can't recall in these Vintage Ales previously. The quintessential ale to age, good fresh and good aged. Wish I had another bottle of this one to check out in 2 or 3 years.

Cask at The George IV, Chiswick, London. A ruby red/amber/brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, caramel, dark fruit, sweet, vinous aroma and taste. Very nice as usual but this always improves with age.
