Can, 0.568l, courtesy of Danijel. Aroma is grainy, grassy, citrusy and vegetably. Pours clear pale golden color with large frothy white head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet grainy with adjunct feel, following is vegetably and papery with really unpleasant bitter finish. Light body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Impossible to drink with pleasure...

Can from an Eastern European minimart in Brandon, Suffolk. Low key grassy aroma, with standard lager notes. Light gold. Bubbly. Scant white head. Initial bitter hit. Carries on in a sour fashion. However there is a saccharine sweetness hanging about. Light bodied and thin textured. Carbonation is fizzy but not overly so. Abrupt finish. Standard lager. Doesn’t overdo the sweetness or taste too chemically.

Bought online from some Russian supermarket in the Netherlands. Latvian pale lager with thick, regularly shaped, egg-white, heavily ’paper’ lacing and stable head over a cristal clear golden blonde beer with steady fizz. Aroma of soggy chicken corn and sweaty grains, rainwater, damp kitchen cloth, hints of sweetbread, freshly cut grass, raw honey, chalk. Neutral onset with an early sweetish side, clear corn, minerals, softish carbo for this style, very vague salty accent, supple, thin and somewhat oily maltiness in the middle, corn sweetish and maltose-like, very metallic, finishing the same but with a faint hint of grassy hops at the back with very superficial bittering properties; finishes artificially maltose-sweetish and metallic, otherwise rather watery. I had worse than this in this particular style, but not that many: this is below average even for an industrial pale lager, not even ashamed to show its heavily adjunct-laden character. A ’pilsje’ for the uneducated masses.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pale yellow colour, small white foamy head that dissipates quickly. Grainy aroma with some malt. Similar flavour. Felt like a light beer. Nothing notable to say about this.
