0.33l bottle. Black body, light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and floral hops. Taste of coffee, chocolate, floral hops and cream. Full bodied beer with creamy texture. Very nice.

Botella de 33 cl en el lúpulo en febrero de 2013. lote a hasta 06-2013. color negro intenso con espuma oscura persistente. Cuerpo medio a fuerte con 11 vol. Aromas y sabores tostados y quemados. sabores más o menos intensos con un cuerpo que podía ser un poco mas espeso y denso. Para repetir sin problemas.

Look: pitch black, smallish espresso head.
Aroma: sweet strawberry marmalade, light roasted not the meld into the sweetness, sweet chocolate, cherry liquor, some alcohol.
Taste: it is sweet, marmalade, roast is in the back, no alcohol perse, but you can feel the spice, Moderate bitterness which is half roasted espresso and half hops. The body is a nice balance between drinkability and richness. Excellent!

Bottle. Brewtique, Macclesfield. Clear, very dark red. Thin, dense, sticky, coffee coloured head. Dark chocolate. Dried, stone fruit. Cocoa powder. And refreshingly, no smoke. Taste is fruity dry, cocoa bean sweet, with a tad of earthy bitterness. Palate is soft, rich, and chocolate smooth. Finishes dry, and long, gentle bitter. Drinks way under the ABV. Lovely, mouth numbing, and rich.

330 ml bottle into snifter, best before 6/2015. Pours dense fairly pitch black color with a small dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lacing cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, light char, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malts and light-moderate dark fruit notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, licorice, raisin, plum, light smoke/char, and roast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, light smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of big dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, moderately slick, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice imperial stout. All around great complexity and balance of big dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours black, with a small off white head. Aroma is roasted malts with liquorice, cocoa, tar, tobacco and coffee. Full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet burned malts with cocoa and liquorice, giving a sweet malty finish.

The ’basic’ Emelisse imperial, with a slowly building but eventually rocky, beige head and ink black colour. Strong aroma of cocoa powder, coffee, pear syrup, liquorice, kahlua, bayleaf, iron, nutmeg, peat, bitter chocolate, straw, ginger. Rounded taste of dried fruits, iron-like undertone but subtle and not disturbing, ashes, very creamy and chocolatey, coffee powder, caramel, strong roasted bitterness in the end, bit sticky finish, quite strong carbonation for the style, in the end some warming, brandy-like alcohol with subtle sourishness for balance. I have the impression this has improved considerably since it was first launched: it has become softer, creamier and sweeter and the alcohol has become better hidden. Great stout.

Bottle, 12C. Black with an inch of light tan head that fades but is never less than a coat. Aroma of blackstrap licorice, mocha, bread, anise, some dark berries. Just a little painty hint of alcohol. Very silky texture, just noticeable carbonation. Sweet with molasses, licorice, more dark berries than suggested by a sniff. More chocolate than coffee. Bitterness struggles a bit through the sweetness, then creeps up. A bit salty at the end. Not particularly complicated, but lovely.

Bottle. Aroma raisins, sherry, complex maltiness, caramel, chocolate. Clear very dark colour. Taste is fruity, dried fruits. Restrained dark malts. Somewhat alcoholic, but mostly in the finish, in the back of the throat. The warm alcohol then lingers quite long.
