Bottle from GBBF. Reddish amber, thin beige head. Not a very impy impy IPA. Some toast on aroma. Malts and hops don’t seem integrated. Stewed hops with boiled sweet toffee malts. Not a great impy IPA.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Whole Foods - Bowery, 4/17/10
Aroma: Aroma of grapefruit, peach, caramel, and pine
Appearance: This one pours a murky dark orange color with some lace
Flavor: Taste is light sweet, caramel/fruit, and medium bitter hops
Palate: A light-medium body, with an average carbonation, a long finish, and a somewhat thin mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This beer is pretty decent, but for this style, it isn't too impressive. It is a pretty hard style to be impressive in though, and it isn't bad. Solid stuff.

Pours dark orange color with off white head. Aroma is sweet malts and floral hops. Flavor is pretty sweet and malt foward with bitter hoppiness in the finish. I’m also getting a little bit of yeast flavor. Medium body with average carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle. Bright amber-brown, orangish. Amazingly pungent nose. Tons of hops. Fruity. Very big flavor. Hops right on the money. Malt is very good. It stays in the background a bit, but still it is well balanced. I would prefer a touch more maltiness, but… It is there, a touch sweet, fruity, caramel, dried fruits. A very bitter hop finish. Saranac’s best so far.

Bottle. Oh...my...God. This is a powerful beer and delicious too. I see that some reviewers are panning this brew but I can’t understand why. It is chock full of hops. The head is creamy. The beer is rich and satisfying. I endorse it and think that any beer-drinker should give this Imperial IPA a go. At the very least you should get a decent buzz.

12 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar. Pours a clear strawberry red color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus hops with toffee. Taste is hoppy with overly citrus notes (I’m suddenly reminded of Pine-Sol). Some very light toffeeish malts, but this is pretty off balance. Medium bodied.

On tap at David Copperfield Pub New York 20-11-08. Pours orange amber in colour with a slight haze and a nice white head. The taste is quite crisp, tangy a touch of harshness there some grapefruit. Its really fresh and zappy quite an eye opener. Aroma is citric and hops although a little weaker than I expected. I found this to be blisteringly hoppy with grapefruit zest, dry and furry and coats the roof of the mouth. A7 A4 F7 P4 OV14 3.6

Sampled at Brew at the Zoo at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. Pours a transparent, golden orange with a frothy, sudsy white head. Smells great, the aroma reminded me of Bells Hopslam, citrus candies, sweet caramel chews, grapefruits, and pine cones. Flavor was nice too, sweet and sugary, lemon candies, oranges and tangerines. Finish is bitter, but not as bitter as a normal IIPA. I liked this quite a bit, it doesn’t pack the punch of other double IPAs, but it’s drinkable and sweet.

Bottle courtesy of orcasteve. Color is amber, aroma very hoppy and yeasty (close to a soft cheese smell) and some dark fruits. Taste was hoppy at first and malty / sugary kicking in after with the hops still dominant.
