Bright copper, no head retention. Flowery candi sugar nose. Medium sweet, spicy notes. Mellow for style. Medium alcohol heat. Poorly carbonated

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark amber colour; the head disappears quite quickly. Aroma of candi sugar, roses, alcohol, a bit perfumey. Good body, it's moderately sweet; caramel flavour, without much malt depth; the yeast profile is mildly spicy, and fortunately it's not the common American/Belgian yeast; the alcohol is a bit too evident. Overall, if not very complex, at least it's clean. Good.

330mL can, pours a clear dark amber with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel, Belgian yeast, toasted chestnuts, and bready malt. Flavour is moderately sweet, with toasted cherries, caramel, bready malt and some brown sugar. Not an authentic quad, but it's a nice malty strong ale that's well-balanced enough. Solid.

355 ml can. Pours a reddish brown with light head. Aromas of fruit candies, caramel, raisins and doughy malts. Flavors of candi sugar, copper, golden raisins and dry bready malts. Sweet. Nice.

Poured from 355mL can (pkg 01/29/24). Hazy amber brown with minimal off-white head. Brown sugar and raisin, fairly hidden alcohol, not a ton of depth. Just okay.

Faint malt on the nose, no alcohol detectable which is good but nothing else either. Good deep ruby brown body and decent foam. Flavour is sweet raisin, some molasses, mellow brown sugar. Nice soft finish and no sign of the booze. Quite enjoyable.
