Beer with Jeff

Hapu, funky, happeline, puidune, kuiv, puuviljane. Ok.

Pours slightly hazy gold with a large fading head.Nose shows heavy oak, grape notes, elderflower, heavy funk.Flavours include more funk and woody oak, very faint acidity, horseblanket, lemon pith.

Bottle. Clear gold with a large white head that collapses and is soon a fat coat. Aroma is funky and woody with forest floor, boot polish, nectarines, unusual spices. Moderately but insistently sour with autumnal fruit, citrus, stone fruit and a finish that's more bitter than oaky. Beautifully balanced between sweet, sour, bitter and woody. Character and structure. Too easy to drink. Balked at this when first seen but bought it after trying Barrel 142. I can see why they bottled that separately but this is also pretty lovely.
