Ich Bin Ein Bumsmachine

Moersleutel collaborating with Sudden Death, a very Anglo-Saxon style postmodern German craft brewer, in this cognac-flavoured big chocolate stout. Medium thick, moussy, opening, mocha-beige head on a black beer with thin burgundy edges. Aroma of black chocolate bars, old coconut flakes, bitter cocoa nibs, hazelnut purée, cappuccino, mocha ice cream, praliné, nougat, some vanilla and indeed a boozy whiff of brandy, though not necessarily cognac. Dense, sweet onset, candied figs and hazelnut grounds, dates, light umami accent (beef broth) – a bit much so for what this intends to be; soft carbonation, full and oily body. Layers of toffeeish, hazelnutty and black bitter chocolatey malts ensue, filling the mouth and slowly turning roasted bitter (coffee grounds), while almond- and nougat-like accents linger. The bitterness is then further accentuated by the cognac and by a dash of peppery hops; the booze does become a bit astringent in the end, but is partially absorbed by the bitter chocolate effect. Layered, complex, recognizably Moersleutel kind of stout, though a tad less umami and better hidden alcohol with more cognac flavour than actual cognac booze would have tilted it to an even higher level.

44cl can. A very dark brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of sweet dark malt, chocolate caramel, vanilla, lactose. Taste of intense sweet dark malt, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, lactose.

Lata 44 CL del Gato que bebia cerveza. Valladolid.17.. 03..21 Color negro intenso con poca espuma beige oscura que desaparece al poco tiempo por completo. Sabores maltosos tostados con buenos toques de cacaos. Cuerpo medio a intenso con bastante sabor. Buena, para repetir.

Draught @ Konttori as Sudden Death / De Moersleuter Imperial Chocolate Stout Aroma has chocolate, chlorine and oat. Flavour has chocolate, oat, alocol and licorice. Rather intense stuff, drinkability suffers.
