Bottle at home. Pours jet black with beige head. Nose is roasted malts, earthy notes, light coffee, faint booze. Taste is bitter notes of coffee and earthy roasted malts, dark chocolate, some booze comes through. No trace of the tonka. Closes with light to moderately bitter finish, has a light to medium body and soft carbonation.

From bottle at Mout Bierfestival Nijmegen 2020. Big blast of coffee with espresso, some tonka, chocolate. Coffee beans and mocha. Full body. Sweet with plenty of roasty bitterness. Very nice!

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, brown head. Roasty, dark malty, slightly caramel malty and slightly woody aroma, hints of cocoa, Bourbon, some oak, some toffee, dark toffee, minimally disguised, background-ish notes of coffee, whiffs of cinnamon and alcohol, vanilla. Taste is bitter, roasty, dark malty, minimally caramel malty, slightly spicy and alcoholic, notes of cinnamon, some coffee, dark caramel, toffee; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Watery texture, dry palate, medium, prickly to lively carbonation. Very nice composition, sadly a bit overcarbonated and somehow light bodied - enjoyable sipper nevertheless.

Bottle. Almost black, dark brown foam. Aroma: burnt, slightly sour, caramel, coffee, chocolate, a little tonka beans, a little cinnamon and vanilla. Taste: sweet, tonka, cinnamon, almonds, vanilla, caramel, a chocolate bar, I expected something more.

33cl bottle. A black beer with a tan lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, tonka. Taste of dark roasted malt, coffee, caramel, liquorice, tonka.

Bottle. Black cola-like pour. Aroma of licorice, dark chocolate, burned caramel, molasses and dusty malt. Taste has strong burned malt, bitter dark chocolate, burned caramel, licorice, little smoke and harsh bitter molasses. No tonka there, mostly just bitter burned flavors. Not bad, no succes either.

Appearance: opaque petroleum black with a small tan head of average retention. Aroma: dark malts, roasted barley, coffee, Tonka, cinnamon, chocolate cake. Taste: moderately sweet, chocolate cake and Tonka beans, roasted barley and coffee, light hopping. So is the bitterness. Palate: medium to full body, medium carbonation. Overall: too fashionable, still well crafted.
