Bourbon County Special #4 Stout is an oatmeal stout variant of our original Bourbon County Stout recipe, also aged in bourbon barrels, that uses crystal oats to add a nutty character and a smooth mouthfeel. After barrel aging, we added Intelligentsia Coffee, both their cold coffee and single origin coffee beans from Ethiopia, called “Metad Buku,” to bring out a pleasant fruity coffee character. Lastly bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup from Bissell Maple Farm in Ohio is added which provides complexity to the nutty oats and coffee to round out the flavors, ultimately reminiscent of your breakfast ‘special’ at the local diner.

Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: quite some coffee, maple, good roast, oxidized, vanilla, dusty, more coffee. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: good roast, maple syrup, bitter, more roast, caramel, lots of alcohol, a bit of chocolate. Aftertaste: very bitter, practically no bourbon, maple syrup, some chocolate. Decent, but not great.

Bottle shared by Werckmeister, many thanks! Quite a bit of cofee, some bourbon, oak, bitter chocolate, borderline smokey. Pretty boozy. Nice sipper but a bit much.

0,5l bottle shared at charity tasting at home. black color, small coffee colored head. Smells bourbon, earthy, bitter chocolate, vanilla, nutty. very nice smell. full body, no carbonation. Tastes bourbon, bitter chocolate, nutty, cinnamon, spices, vanilla, earthy. Finishes lightly sweet with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and spices. lovely, i really like this one

Sampled at Bourbon County Stout Tasting @ Johnny's. Nice dark brown color, no head. Aroma and flavor are malts, roast, maple and heavy coffee / espresso. Quite awesome, but, a little bit unbalanced. 8-8-8-8-7.

Fles geprobeerd met Keukeman en Benzai op een tasting bij Addictee2craftBeer. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een aroma van ahornsiroop. De smaak is vol, bourbon, chocolade en siroop.

500ml bottle. Sweet, sticky leathery and syrupy with some bourbon, burnt coffee, maple syrup, cocoa and chocolate. Quite heavy and sticky.
