Flesje thuis gedronken. Donkerbruin tot robijnrood bier met matig schuim dat als een film blijft liggen. Heel licht aroma van pruimen en kersen. Smaak is zoet en karamel-achtig. Nasmaak is houtig en licht bitter maar ook plakkerig.

White Pony calls this beer “A dense and soft quadrupel aged in Sherry and Whisky oak barrels.” My 33 cl bottle was just delivered by Belgian Happiness, the first sampling out of the box. I have the Chimay glass in place, lift the cap and pour. Dark amber-brown in color with a thin but promptly recharged skim of light tan bubbles. The scent is boozy, stewed dark fruit. I lift for a drink, damn, how does the brewer keep delivering such good quads? Chocolate, black plums, currants, whole grain bread, figs, some oakiness, malt and whisky. A first class, dense sensation. This is a potent, tasty brew.

1 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, Kevin, Niels & Cynthia! Hazy dark brown, stable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of unbaked bread, biscuit, prune, raisin, vague cherry, whisky. Taste has sweet dates, prune and even cherry on a biscuity-caramelly malty base, slightly bitter herbal tea note & a smoky accent in the back. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, bit more caramel yet dried fruit too, and warming 'woody' whisky alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Surprisingly 'elegant' by White Pony, not too shabby.
