Brewed with loads of special caramelized malts and dark roasted malts, brown sugar etc. We boil it for a day to achieve a thick super-black dense syrupy fluid that has got sweet notes of milk chocolate, white chocolate, liquid caramel fudge, hazelnut cream, candied walnuts, dark forest fruits marmelade, pralines and cacao milkshake

The label says Black Barleywine Ale, so I will go with that. Barley wines have grown on me, rather like them these days. I purchased this White Pony offering from the fine folks at Belgian Happiness. Flipping the tab on the 33 cl can and pouring into a snifter. Delightfully dark with a hint of brown around the edges and topped with a fawn tan, velvety head. The fragrance is strong and I mean that in a good way. Dark plums, ripe fruit and yeast. A drink follows, I get more of the imperial stout but there is assuredly a barley wine impact. Chocolate, grain, raisins, stewed plums, malt, a touch of coal and berries. Some sweetness with a nice bitterness. The high abv is well concealed. Good.
