650ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of treacle, hints of dark chocolate, weak BA hints with a touch of oak, caramel and vanilla, tart-ish, tannic, woody hints in the background evoke the suspicion of infection. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately and roasty dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, a touch of caramel and treacle, tart-ish, tannic, woody overtones with a touch of sour milk, a touch of unripe banana, banana leaves as well; cocoa finish. A bit weird, unbalanced, the tannic, woody touch comes close to sour milk and lactic acid in a non-matching mode. So-so.

Pours black. Loads of banana on nose with some chocolate, biscuits and bourbon. The banana is dominant flavourwise and unfortunately its very much a lolly banana flavour which makes for a cloying sweetness. Not what I'd hoped.

On tap at Galbraiths. Pours black. Banana, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, dried fruit, plum. Medium body. Bit of banana at the beginning and in that fruity finish but surprisingly well balanced. Good.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a milk chocolate brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a lot of sweet chocolate with notes of dark grains, roast, banana and light bourbon supporting. Flavor has sweet chocolate and a bit of banana with a growing bourbon presence and a hint of roast underlying.

(Bottle) Pours Black with good dense tan head. Nice aroma - toast, smoke, wood, hints of vanilla. Full bodied with plenty of soft carbonation. Flavour is surprising; pleasant but not quite what I expected. There’s dark chocolate, dark roast malt, a sourness reminiscent of some porters, there’s hints of banana, and a pleasant bitterness along with black treacle in the finish.

From a 650ml bottle on 1/8/2018. Pours a deep brown with a small to medium head. The nose is mild chocolate, with maybe just a touch of ripe banana. The flavour is quite sweet, with lots of milk chocolate, and a decent dash of banana, with faint hints of nuts, vanilla and bourbon. Medium to full bodied with softish carbonation. On the one hand, this is reasonably pleasant, if somewhat subdued, sweet impy. Chocolate and banana yes. But you wouldn't necessarily think barrel-aged when consuming. All up, not bad, but a little less interesting than you might think given the description.
