The light, refreshing character of our award-winning golden ale is distinguished by its subtle elderflower aroma, reminiscent of a summer’s evening. Champion is particularly rewarding when served chilled. On a balmy evening in Stanpit Marsh, a cool breeze blows and a calm encompasses the vast reserve. Amongst the wild horses, you may see Golden Champion, a headstrong but loyal stallion who enjoys the warm days grazing in th fields. The subtle elderflower aromas of this delicately floral brew are reminiscent of a summer’s evening. This divine all-rounder is a great companion for smoky, chargrilled chicken and peppery rocket salad.

Bottle. Poured deep amber with an average sized off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, hop, citrus and notes of light elderflower. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. One of H&W better ones.

Bottle from Waitrose. Another Badger beer that smells of butterscotch immediately on opening. A bit closer and it's sugar puffs. Yeah, breakfast cereal on the taste too. A bit strong for the style and as a consequence it's a touch sweeter, but that could be absence of hops.

Bottle. Clear deep golden colour. Small creamy white head. Average retention. The aroma is different and rather interesting: fairly peppery, spicy and floral (may be the announced elderflower) with biscuity malts along. Light to medium body. Taste: light sweet biscuity front, hoppier mid with notable spiciness. The ending is moderately spicy / peppery. Supporting light bitterness. Not bad at all. I would only ask for a reasonable finishing hop kick.

2016 catch up - Bottles at home as part of mixed pack - Generic golden ale. Inoffensive, but it did not taste of much. At the end I came to the conclusion that I didn’t actually like it as there was rather an odd flavour to it. One that I will not buy again.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a thick white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of metal, watery grain and earth. Flavour of boiled cabbage, grass and cornflakes. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily mouthfeel. Light fizz. Astringent and vegetal.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with a small creamy white head, long lasting. Aroma is lightly floral, elderflower. Taste is hoppy, sweet, with elderflower definitely in there unlike some other beers. Quite enjoyed this one.
