The light, refreshing character of our award-winning golden ale is distinguished by its subtle elderflower aroma, reminiscent of a summer’s evening. Champion is particularly rewarding when served chilled. On a balmy evening in Stanpit Marsh, a cool breeze blows and a calm encompasses the vast reserve. Amongst the wild horses, you may see Golden Champion, a headstrong but loyal stallion who enjoys the warm days grazing in th fields. The subtle elderflower aromas of this delicately floral brew are reminiscent of a summer’s evening. This divine all-rounder is a great companion for smoky, chargrilled chicken and peppery rocket salad.

Bottle from Tesco, Kingston, MK. Medium gold, big supermarket ale bubbles in the carbonation. No head. Aroma of hay, garden flowers, butterscotch. Taste is sweet, and a bit cloying: Orange soda notes with a hint of floral hop. Bittersweet finish. Not all that really.

BOTTLE 50 CL.

Look: clear amber/brandy colored, off-white creamy head with good retention.
Aroma: sweet flowers, some spicy herbal hops, ginger or elderberry, light toast.
Taste: toasted bread, a bizarre mix of light salty and sweet, ginger or elderberry, very little to no hop bitterness.

Prized ale from the famed brewery in Dorset, with a creamy white, mousse-like, sticky head, thin but very stable, as I would expect in an English ale. Colour a deep orange blonde, warm and bright with calm sparkling. Refined grassy and flowery hoppy aroma with a buttery sweetishness of pale malt, pear, apple peel, mango, elderberry, ginger. Taste an interestingly vivid and rounded fruitiness, honeyish sweetness, slick and creamy mouthfeel as is to be expected in a golden ale, slightly oily, nicely evolving from sweetish to bitterish with a quite sharp, leafy and peppery hoppiness in the background. Golden ale, as a modern acquisition to the family of English ales, is not my favorite style, but this one is clearly a great, well-balanced and refreshing brew.

500ml bottle from Tesco. Pours clear gold, long-lasting white head. Aromas are strongly floral, light metallic note, and earthiness I associate with Fuggles. Taste is fruity-sweet, light bitter. Oily texture, clean finish. OK.

Fra flaske på rom 324 på Premier Inn, Goldsmith Rd. Nottingham 27 Jan 14. Gyldenbrun. Tynt filmskum. God maltaroma. Smaken er litt syrlig med et visst maltpreg. Noe fruktighet etter hvert.

Bottle - Clear bottle may be bad. First opening the spunky aroma goes everywhere. After a bit of time it mellows to toast with some citrus. Maybe like marmalade. I could just be hungry? A bit grassy, very interesting. Pale yellow with a fizzy head that disappears quickly. Very light, honey and crystal malts. For a light beer not bad, at least it has some flavor.
