Bottle at Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured a clear copper colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, woody resin hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light, crisp, light fruity, malty, light metallic hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head. Caramel, red fruits, bready malts and a touch of grassy hop in the finish. Enjoyable, easy drinking.

It’s all sweetness and malt on the nose. I’m not very experienced with the bitters, but it wasn’t want I was expecting. The maltiness also comes through strongly on drinking but it’s more palatable without quite as much sugar. There’s some nice, modest hoppiness at the end. Overall, it’s a nice taste but probably a little bit simple. Malt, then hop. The end.

(bottle) Poured clear mahogany with slight off-white head. Lovely sweet candy aroma with floral notes. Light body and good fine carbonation. Flavour is mainly a moderately sweet maltiness with a bit of fruity tang at the start and some bitterness in the finish. Overall, a pleasant well-rounded beer but with not a lot to remark about it.

From a 330ml bottle on 31/3/2011. Pours a clear copper colour with little head. Has a very strong malty aroma with some sweet fruits and honey. It starts out with sweet caramel and toffee malts, followed by some citrus fruit and nutty flavours. It finishes with a toasty/roasty bitterness whiuch is quite firm and lasting. This is a very good ESB.

Bottle. Nut brown. Tight, barely off-white head. Caramel and fruity malt nose, lifted by citrus hops. Very creamy mouthfeel. Tastes sweet and fruity with a mildly bitter finish. I suspect this would be better draught. Lacks the easy grace of the Mt Macedon Ale.

Bronze/amber pour with very small fine head.Very hoppy aroma with a fair whack of citrus, some woody notes and tropical fruit. Loads of cookie dough and noticeable toffee brings it back into English territory.Flavours are similarly malty, fairly sweet, but a prominent green, earthy hop note keeps it in check. A moderate, slightly harsh bitterness follows.Low creamy carbonation with medium body.Would have liked to see more carbonation, both for appearance and mouthfeel.
