A traditional amber session bitter. Renamed and redesigned Best Bitter. Superbly balanced with a floral hop aroma from plenty of traditional English Goldings and Fuggles hops.

On cask at thee Olde Ship Inn in Seahouses. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - slightly elusive but oranges and biscuits. Taste - orange and biscuits again. Tasty. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall -nice ale.

Bottle as Alias Lindisfarne Holy Island Bitter, picked up by Isobel (thanks Isobel) from Holy Island (I believe) consumed at home Thursday 11th December 2014. Sadly this was a shocker, insipid, thin, watery beer. A touch of caramel, lacking in bitterness, in fact it is simply a case if where is the bloody flavour. Stick on a touristy Holy Island Bitter label and flog it for £2.90 (or whatever the scandalous price was) robbing gits, shameful! Btw are we sure this is still an alias, my rating seems quite out of kilter for what otherwise looks a pretty decent beer by Allendale and I wouldn’t wish to knock what appears to be a good beer. Bottle 500ml (AbM)
Clear amber/copper color, small white head. Caramel, grain and light hoppyness in the nose. Light bodied. English pale malty, typical English hoppyness. Nice late bitterness. Fruity sweetish notes. Quite classic English bottled bitter and stands much bolder than its 3.8 %.

Bottled (from AbM). Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is crystal malts, some slight floral and herbal notes along with a bit of toffee. Flavour is crystal malts, fruity and floral notes along with some slight toffeeish notes as well. A bit strong on the crystal malts, otherwise decent bitter.

500ml bottle. Clear dark golden to amber colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Minimally dry hoppy, minimally floral and fruity aroma, hints of bread, cautious fruity hints of red berries. Taste is initially minimally sweet malty, a dry touch of bread crust, minimally fruity and floral, later dry to bitter hoppy overtones, minimally chalky, light, minimally watery. Unspectacular but nice and sessionable.
