Bottle from test batch, kindly provided by the brewer. Deep dark brown color, small but steady head. Malty, roasty aroma with hints of laurel and chocolate. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Very malty sweetish, roasty flavor with chocolate, licorice and laurel. Low on carbon, yet full of flavor. Some warming alcohol. A good balance in spite of the alcohol. Nice one. Unlabeled bottle, 10,8%. Dark brown color. Malty nutty aroma with earthy hops and traces of smoke. Sweet, almost sugary flavor with smoky notes, licorice and partly hidden earthy floral hops. The alcohol is also well hidden. Just a tad too sweet but deceptively drinkable.

Label says "Heer van Gramsbergen" so the name above should be corrected. Light beige, thin but stable head, very dark ruby brown colour, clear. Sweetly perfumed, bit smoky aroma of chocolate, peat, candied dates, raisins, sweet tobacco, kahlua, mint; dark fruits in the mouth, mellow mouthfeel, candi syrup, caramel candy, nuts, mouth filling and full with a roasted bitterness and slight smokiness in the end. Scotch-type ale if you ask me, but admittedly with some quadrupel- and imperial stout-like influences. Interesting.

Tasty dark beer. Malty and a bit yeasty, with a touch of smoke. Has some roasted notes as well. Hard to type, but quite nice.

Geruch hefig, sehr fruchtig malzig, leicht würzig, alkoholisch. Geschmack trocken malzig süß, fruchtig, alkoholisch.

300ml bottle [Heer van Gramsbergen, 11.0% abv]. Darkest ruby red colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Malty aroma has notes of dried fruit, raisin, plum, smokey notes in the background, a yeasty touch. Taste is initially dry, hints of dried fruit with subtle sweetness, later more and more smoky; long lasting, sticky finish with smoky notes, hints of ashes, ham, subtle chocolately sweetness. Rich and complex, full bodied, oily texture, sticky palate. Successful use of smoked malt in unusual context.

Appearance chestnut brown with a tan head. Aroma of cherries and a liquor taste of fruit and overtones of coffee and chocolate. Lingers on the palate with a nice string flavor

30cl bouteille, bb 09/2013.

8/11/10/11/8/12

bottle, thank you Bierkoning! Hazy brown colour, lovely caramel aroma. Very full-bodied, sweet intensive malty flavours with roasetd malts, caramel, toffee fudge and a touch of smoke. Delicious!
