For this variant we aged Bourbon County Stout in rye whiskey barrels, then added raspberry and blackberry juice and puree from Michigan and Washington. The process resulted in complex jammy fruit notes that are prominent but well integrated with the caramel and chocolate flavors of the beer and spicy rye character from the barrels.

Bottle signed by Grave Digger shared by Chris at RBWG. Pours a dark brown with beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is roast whiskey and rye. Thin mouthfeel with strong roast and very sweet. Jammy as hell, light dryness. Good.

Bittle at RBWG hotel tasting. Pours black brown with a fine, beige cream head. Some black raspberries in the nose. Big sweet flavor, dark malta, some earthy bitterness. Heavy sweetness. Full bodies with fine carbonation. Sweet, sticky sugars to finish, some dry raspberries, bit of cocoa. Not altogether bad.

Bottle, 22oz. A black one, topped by a dense, finger-thick tan head. Lightly boozy nose with bourbon and raspberry. The blackberries isn’t detected. Coffee, roasted malts and some chocolate too. The bourbon isn’t as evident in the flavor as in the aroma, but on the other hand the raspberries are much more evident. Roasted malts, some coffee and a fine bitterness towards the end. Full-bodied and warming, especially warming in the end. A quite unusual one, very nice. 121109

Bottle kindly shared by someone. Pours with a pitch black, typical BCS viscous body with a tan head. Aromas are interesting with notes of berry cobbler, graham cracker, bourbon, vanilla, oak, blackberries. Flavors are of whiskey (rye or bourbon), subtle pepper, lots of spirit and oak, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate. Pretty sweet. Medium bubbles, bitter and tannic finish.
