A Bavarian black beer with distinctive carmel malt sweetness and rich creamy trademark head. Flavorful, yet smooth; it is very drinkable!

At the Loop Hotel with Hrabren, visnja666v and Goran (thanks guys!).. Blackish, extremely dark amber really. Dull sweet aroma, raisins. Light, light creamy, raisiny taste, more sweet than dry. Vague soapy notes, pollen. This is awful for a Schwarzbier and just an average Dunkel, below average even. There is ABSOLUTELY NO reason to import it here. Useless and way too expensive (again, here).

0.33 at Loop hotel, Folka. Dark brown with small head. Raisin, malts, dry figs, maybe some chocolate, caramel. Light body, roasty bitterness, malty taste. Watery. Not good.

Dark brown/cola colored, almost no beige head. Aroma is malty, caramel, black malts some melano. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, roasted malts, some breadiness in the finish, floral, grassy, almost chewable hops but very low bitterness. Light and watery.

My first beer from this brewery, apparently a Schwarzbier. Moussy and dense, lacing, thick head, even gushing a bit; colour is a transparent, very dark wine red, almost black but not quite. German dark lager-like, malty sweet and, frankly, rather weak aroma of cookie dough, home made caramel, iron, hazelnut oil, candi syrup, toasted bread, molasses, banana, faint hints of vanilla, dried leaves, chocolate topping, black pepper corns, liquorice and pear. Taste begins with a smooth, soft sweetishness, some restrained fruitiness (raisins, pears and dried plums), sourish accent (sour cream), medium carbonation with slightly minerally effect, supple but somewhat thin body; middle phase is clearly metallic, a bit thin and malty all the way through, caramelly, a bit nutty, sweetish with a toasted accent in the end, (practically) not evolving into roasted bitterness at all but instead remaining soft and sweetish with only a light bitterness on the root of the tongue, dominating the finish. Some leafy hops add a further basic bitterness but the maltiness continues and toasted malts will be the last thing you’ll remember from this. Seems a little sweeter than most German Schwarzbiere, with insufficient roasted bitterness; too metallic as well. Nothing truly off-putting, but still far from the best in the style, I’m afraid. Yet I am willing to admit this particular style does not offer too much complexity in general.

*Old rating. 2010. The beer starts smooth, chocolate, slightly smooth, dark roast, intense but not too malty. Very dry, smooth, round but a bit too watery. Nice.

Bottled. From old notes. A decent Schwartz bier with chocolate and coffee notes. Light in flavor. Nothing very special, but a pretty nice black beer. Not much aroma or finish, but likeable.

ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, erdig, Schokolade. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, Kaffee, Schokolade, leicht trockener Abgang.

Reviewed from notes. Consumed November 22, 2011.
The appearance has a dark, almost purplish-brown body with a small creamy colored head and had a slightly reddish beige color of the head with very small lacing.
The smell has black cherries, some light malt, some berry aromas, and subdued chocolate.
The taste is basically the same as the previously mentioned flavors through a decent bittersweetness.
The palate is about a medium; comes across slightly creamy; with a quick clean finish, berry/chocolate aftertaste, slightly sessionable.
Overall, this is good for the style and good for me.
