Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hop bitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

Ruby-red colour. Also a bit fruity in the taste which fits the colour. Nice and hoppy.

Very woody aroma, with nutty walnut overtones. Clear garnet, thin head. Lots of walnut flavor. Medium body, alcohol not noticeable. Drinks like a Sam Adams Utopia, but sessionable. Quite a pleasant surprise. A good example of what viennas and all lagers can be.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Soft and medium sweet beer. Juicy malt with a dry finish. Not bad!

Bought this 2 Litres jug with flip-top a couple of Christmas’ ago and cellared it. Pours a ruby-amber colour with an nice beige creamy head that has good retention. Mildly carbonated and lacing is left behind. Beautiful nose with fruits (on the red apple side), nut, brown sugar and darker malts. OK, maybe it was more than a couple of years... as I taste a little sourness (which I assume is not usually there). Other than that, same stuff found in the aromas. Nice hazelnut finish. As always, I do like these Christoffel brews (but with a big bottle like these, you have to find the time for it). Unfortunately, I took too long.

bottle. Clear brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Aroma of roasetd malts and caramel. Full-bodied, malty with flavours of caramel and roasted malt. Quite spicy with a touch of alcohol and a lingering finish, into which some hops seem to be tuning in.
