(750ml bottle from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours black with a small but stable latte-coloured ring and some lace. Aroma surprisingly liqueur-like, with layers of deep caramel and brown sugar overlaying some clear toasted nuts (pecans and others) dusted in candy sugar, some smoky roasty notes, intense vanilla that is almost extract-like, sweet cream blanket over everything increases the liqueur vibe. Flavour follows the nose, sweet and candied but very liqueur-centric, with the brown sugar core and strong vanilla coating dry, pecan-adjacent toasted nuts, lightly creamy, becoming quite dry towards the finish with increasing pecan/walnut-like bitterness, no real alcohol heat but some flavour which contributes to the liqueur/extract vibe. Light body for style, watery to oily, average carbonation. Decent stuff in its own way but not quite dessert pastry despite the sweetness, being too nutty and bitter. Definitely a liqueur though. Not sure where the coconut went, feels like it just disappeared in this bottle.
