Medium offwhite head. Clear deep red body with visible particles. Wooden roasty caramel aroma with resiny lacquer and spice notes. Dry-sweet and faintly acidic roasty caramelly and chocolatey taste with spicy resiny earthy notes. Fullish body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish resiny citric roasty aftertaste with earthy caramel and wood notes. Some spice and licorice notes, too. Really nice. Rich, complex, and full-flavoured, yet balanced and harmonic. An impressive beer. (0.75l bottle, Håndverkerstuene, Oslo. Bottle says 5.8%.)

Bottle, 75cl, at Haandverkerstuene. It’s almost clear in the glass, dark amber in color and with a small, off-white head. Spiced and herbal nose with a pleasant maltyness and some cellar and alcohol. Nice bitterness in the flavor, along with herbs and spices. Malty and slightly warming from the alcohol, which sort of puzzles me. Might be some strange form of smoke I’m detecting. Long finish with herbs and bitterness. A tasteful beer that drinks easily. 110211

750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.8%. Hazy brown colour, big to moderate off-white head. Moderate "dusty" aroma, hints of wood and yeast, just a touch of smoke. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of oak / wood and mild spices, hints of smoke, a decent hoppy bitterness in the finish. Smoke in the aftertaste.

75cl bottle shared with 2 friends. Close to the best before date. Dark beer. Doesn’t taste like a smoked beer. Nice beer though!
