(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 24.07.2014, thanks masse, 20141121) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had fruitiness, green apples and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, chocolate, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, roasty and bitter. The aroma was weird but the taste was good.

Bottle shared with DJN 31.10 14. Very dark brown. Pale brown head. Aroma of coffe, dark chocolate and liquorice in aroma. Sweet and similar taste. Slightly oily mouthfeel.

500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a large head. Aroma is coffee, caramel and raisin. Taste has sticky caramel to start with a coffee and raisin finish.

500 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, raisin, plum, dark bread, brown sugar, light chocolate/roast, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/bready malt and yeast ester fruitiness; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, raisin, plum, dark bread, brown sugar, light chocolate/roast, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, raisin, plum, dark bread, brown sugar, light chocolate/roast, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and solid complexity of dark/bready malt and yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Baltic porter style. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Look: deep brown with red highlights, big beige head with poor retention.
Aroma: burnt sugar, light toast/roast, grain and husk.
Taste: starts rather bizarre light salty, then burnt sugar, some very light dark fruit, light peppery bitter finish. The finish has some light harsh phenolic notes.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark, slightly smoky caramel, stewed prunes, grass. Full bodied, creamy, just short of syrupy. Medium carbonation. Rich caramel, some chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla. Bitterness creeps up. Some spices come the fore at the end along with licorice. The finish is not dry, but the richness does not linger unduly. Comes across as a Dunkelbock and perhaps not one as strong as 6.8%. Rock solid beer.
