33 cL bottle. Pours clear and pale yellow with a huge white head. Mild bitter to grassy and slight spiced aroma. Sweet caramel and slight bitter flavoured with a light grassy hops note from the back of the nose. Ends light sweetend and somewhat bitter into the far finish.

Canned(330ml). -from some souvenir shop in Bruxelles.
Directly from the can. Malty, faint hoppy and grainy with metallic notes. Bitter finish. Supermarket crap.

A completely insignificant beer. It tastes fine after you poured a few down your throat, but overall it is just another mediocre pilsner. It has a completely forgetable taste and adds nothing special to beer at all. It is a wonder that this company stays in business in a country where Cara Pils, Jupiler, Hoegaarden are all equally priced and better beers. Would I take this over Budweiser? Hell yes, but really only to be esoteric.

(Can 50 cl) Pilsener golden with a creamy, white head leaving a fine lacework. Aroma dominated by hops. Quite dry body with good representation of both hops and malts. A decent discount pils. 041205

BLOC isn’t a brewery, of course. But Gluck pils has been contract-brewed, following B.E.S. website, by Alken, Artois, Leroy, Martens & St. Jozef breweries. This one tastes very Martens, which might explain the deviation with the other ratings. Fully clear gold; yellowish, fluffy good head, disappearing. Quite grainy, pale malt, aroma like starch. Very (pale) malty, fine bitterish, hoppy finish. Bit watery mouthfeel. Aftertaste of roasted malt. Not a bad Pilsner.
